I am not sure what the lighting conditions were for you but it looks like it wasnt good. The processing looks as if you have overdone the contrast a bit as the highlights are very blown. As far as form of the rider and horse, I dont know too much about point to point or steeplechase but this looks like a grat action shot.

Nice action shot but for me the background looks a little over processed? I could be totally wrong though!
